Psychologist of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" Ekaterine Kvachakidze held group and individual meetings in the Women Support Centers of Terjola, Samtredia, Kobuleti, Zugdidi and Vani. Among the participants there were: victims of violence, representatives of families under crisis, school teachers.

The main topic of the group meetings was “The impact of traumatic experiences on the victim and abuser”. People with traumatic experiences often suffer from psychological stress. In such a situation, it is necessary to work individually with children, work with families, teachers, as a result of which we will get an effective impact.

The meetings were held in question-and-answer mode. The participants showed activity and goodwill. According to them, such meetings are necessary and useful.

The women initiative group of the village Pakhulani - Tsalenjikha municipality continues to work on advocacy issues. There is no fast internet in the village, the women plan to solve this issue. The company “Magti” responded to them. Letters signed by the residents were sent to the City Hall and the City Council. The group members are waiting for the response.

Trainings of the six-month course are carried out according to plan. 5 trainings were conducted at the Youth Empowerment Centers of Chokhatauri, Samtredia, Senaki, Kobuleti and Terjola.

It was a discussion of actual issues, problems, group and individual work, which arouse great interest among young people. Parents and teachers of the participants attended the meetings. The active involvement of schools and families is a great incentive for us.

Our initiative should be mentioned - in new groups, together with trainers from the Women Fund “Sukhumi”, graduates conduct trainings on topics that are interesting for them. It has particular importance in our work.

Work of Tskaltubo initiative groups

The training on the topic: "Peace, the role of young people in peace activities" was held with the members of Tskaltubo youth group. The participants talked about the importance of peace and their own role using group and role-playing games. Based on the advocacy plan, the members of the women initiative group organized a meeting with the doctors. Students from different schools attended the meeting. What does addiction mean and how marijuana and different types of drugs affect human health - the participants received comprehensive information on these issues.

The project is coming to an end, but the group members continue to conduct activities. During the next meeting of Tskaltubo Women Initiative Group, the participants talked about future plans that are related to strengthening the IDP community and solving priority problems.

The role of women in peace and security is particularly important. Empowering women provides more inclusive approach to the needs of internally displaced people. This was well demonstrated during the project implementation by identifying problems and solving some of them.

Domestic violence, legislation, prevention of violence and raising awareness - the members of the women initiative group of the village Koki - Zugdidi municipality were trained on these issues. They talked about the forms of violence, protection mechanisms and state services. The meeting held with Koki youth initiative group was dedicated to the topic of promotion of peace and non-violent culture. The young people were informed about the campaign of "16 active days against gender-based violence".

A workshop on prevention of violence against women and/or domestic violence, protection and assistance to victims of violence, for members of the Municipal Interdepartmental Commission was held in Vani.

Participants reviewed strategies, which will help to solve specific cases. We discussed the obligations of each member of the commission to operate effectively.

During the workshop it was noted that the commission should contribute to the prevention of violence and timely assistance to victims. It is necessary to review the composition and add members so that the commission can work more actively and achieve more results.

Representatives of the British Embassy visited the Women Fund “Sukhumi”. The meeting discussed the importance of women, peace and security agenda and women's involvement in local government.

Particularly impressive were the results achieved by the Women Initiative Groups of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki and Zugdidi. The project assistants spoke about the problems already advocated and solved, the network activities, the great power that exists in the form of this network, which can do a lot of good in the future.

The members of the youth club of the village Didinedzi - Zugdidi municipality attended the screening of short films made by the young volunteers of the Women Fund "Sukhumi". Discussion was held. The teenagers expressed their opinions. The topics of the films were the following: migration, tolerance and domestic violence. Didinedzi women initiative group continues to work on advocacy issues. An important problem is the construction and cleaning of drainage channels in the village. The members of the group have sent letters to Zugdidi City Hall and City Council with a request to resolve the issue and are waiting for the response.
